Questions & Answers

What is the relaxation score?

Nuan compares today’s heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep and activity with your own usual, and turns that into a number from 0 to 100. It’s a lifestyle reference, not a medical diagnosis.

What do Nuan’s poses mean?

Nuan lying down to rest means very relaxed, sitting with you means steady, and standing with its tail up means a bit tense, a nudge to take a break. A tilted head and a raised paw mean Nuan is waiting: there isn’t enough data yet.

What data does Nuan read?

Only summaries of four things in Apple Health: heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep and active energy. Everything is calculated on your iPhone and watch, never uploaded or shared.

Why wear an Apple Watch?

Heart rate variability and resting heart rate mostly come from the watch. With it on, Nuan sees more of your day. When there’s too little data, Nuan simply waits for you. You can still use the app and the widgets without a watch.

Why is Nuan always waiting?

Nuan needs at least two kinds of recent data to make an estimate. Turn on access on the Apple Health page in the app, then wear your Apple Watch for a while. If there’s no new result for 6 hours, Nuan waits too; opening the Nuan app on your iPhone or watch calculates again.

What does Lifetime include?

One purchase unlocks all 4 widget styles for your Home Screen, Lock Screen and watch face. It’s not a subscription and never renews. Cream Nook stays free.

Got a new phone? How do I get Lifetime back?

Sign in with the Apple Account you bought it with, open Widget Styles and tap Restore Purchases. You won’t be charged again.

I bought Lifetime in an earlier version. Do I still have it?

Yes. Version 4.0 keeps the same Lifetime purchase. Open the Nuan app while signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with and it’s recognized automatically; if not, tap Restore Purchases in Widget Styles.

How do I add a widget to my Home Screen, Lock Screen or watch face?

Home Screen: touch and hold an empty spot, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Nuan. Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize and add it in the widget area below the time. Watch: touch and hold the face, tap Edit and find Nuan under Complications. In the app, Privacy & Help → Add widgets to your Home Screen and watch has every step.

Why didn’t my widget or watch face update right away?

The system schedules when widgets and watch faces refresh, so they usually update a little later than the app; opening the Nuan app once helps. Your iPhone and watch share results only when Nuan is installed on both and they stay paired. Tapping a style with a small lock takes you to Widget Styles in the Nuan app.

How do I delete my data?

Nuan has no accounts and keeps nothing about you on a server. Deleting the app removes the results it saved on your devices. Your health data stays in Apple Health, where you can turn off Nuan’s access.

Where did AI palm reading and the almanac go?

Starting with 4.0, the app focuses on Nuan the cat and the widgets and no longer offers AI palm reading, the almanac, shichen hours or sign-in. The first time you open 4.0, what the old version left on the device is cleared. For what happens to old account data on the server, see section 8 of the Privacy Policy.
